Their sweets are simply the best be it mishti doi or sandesh, kheer kadam, rosogolla, kalajam, cham cham.
The only drawback is that one has to visit it as early as possible as the sweets get over due to the high demand.
A must visit shop, highly recommended.
The variety and the taste - talks about authentic traditional calcutta sweets.
During my stay in the city I have tried sweets from all kinds of shops in South Kolkata. When I had "Sandesh", I always got some smell of cornflour or rice flour or wheat flour or cheap milk powder, some even used powdered gram (Sattu). This is the only shop I came across where Sandesh is made of 100% cottage cheese. The exact same taste I got in sweet shops in Chandannagar or Krishnanagar. Surprisingly, this dark and old fashioned shop is not as crowded as other bright and colorful "modern" shops which sell cornflour sweets. Warning: Due to purity of the products, the sizes of sweets are a bit smaller than those modern shops.
